Crazy Chaos!

IMG_2145Did you know that, “Brother will deliver brother over to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death. And you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.”  These are the words of Jesus in Mark 13:12-13.

Jesus informs His disciples (and us) about the crazy chaos of sin in this world.  Yes, the sin of man causes crazy chaos to commence.  It did back 2,000 years ago.  It is still causing chaos today.  You don’t need me to mention any headline news, do ya?

But those wonderful words of hope  Jesus serves taste so sweet, as if honey to a bear.  Jesus said, “the one who endures to the end will be saved.”  You want to endure, don’t you?  You don’t want to give up, do ya?

In the midst of another Lenten season, people often talk about what they are “giving up.” Well, I’m not giving up endurance found in faith.  The Holy Spirit works on my heart just as He is working on yours…He doesn’t desire us to give up the faith or perseverance or endurance even in the midst of chaotic times.  Yes, these are chaotic times.  Yet, let’s endure as we have a Savior who has defeated these chaotic forces and will allow our troubles, even our persecutions, to be a witness to the world (see verses 9-10).

As your brother in Christ, with my own chaos, I pray the Lord to keep me in His Grace this season of Lent and throughout my life.  It is my prayer for you as well.

PRAYER:  Father in Heaven, don’t let us fall away even though others seek to lead us astray (Mark 13:1).  Help us recognize voices of evil, lures of lust and temptations of greed.  Help us to stay strong in humility and peace, giving testimony to Your goodness even in the midst of crazy chaos.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.”
