42 Seconds with 30 Sayings of Jesus

Oct 10

“What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? 13 And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray. 14 So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.” Matthew 18:12-14

Reckless Love.  It’s a song you may hear on the radio.  We at St. John (Cypress, TX) sing it on occasion during our worship services.  Reckless Love.  It also describes the man of a hundred sheep in the words of Jesus today.  In our culture, we would think someone is reckless to risk 99% of his flock just to regain 1%.  But our Heavenly Father has no limits on His love.  He doesn’t settle for ‘good enough’.  God loves us recklessly.  He loves you that much!  For that we can say, “Thanks be to God and glory be to Jesus!”

  1. Love this!! Bailey, with my help, is leading the Youth Praise Team at our church. See pucks put all the music, and they sang “Reckless Love” last Sunday. I love the song, but couldn’t understand all the words on the radio. When I saw the lyrics in print, I was confused and thought there must be typos. Kathy was comfused, too. She asked Travis about it before I had a chance to ask Bailey about the lyrics. His response was, “It’s about the shepherd, Jesus, leaving the 99 sheep to find the one that was lost. Wow!! I think Kathy and I need to go back to Sunday School 101!! Thanks for your post!! It was very meaningful and timely for me!!
